    Master of Fashion Styling and Communication

    The Fashion Styling and Communication Masters degree forms professionals that will be capable to come up new fashion visual proposals (styling, creative direction, fashion film….) as well as developing contemporary communication, branding and marketing strategies for existing fashion companies. It is a theoretical and practical training that brings the student closer to the realities of the professional market through a series of collaborations with different fashion brands (luxury & high street, showrooms, vintage, agencies, etc), where they will acquire the necessary skills to tackle the new challenges in the fashion sector.


    With its mixed format, this degree will allow all students to learn, participate and be part of the IED community in person, in physical and virtual classrooms, and remotely.

    • Directed to : at those who are interested in the world of fashion and its processes, as well as graduates or holders of diplomas in communications, Marketing and PR or journalism looking for specific training in the field of Fashion and Communications.

    Goals

    • Learn about the historical, ethical, social and cultural aspects of fashion to build a solid foundation for academic and work projects
    • Learn how to identify the sources of suitable references to work on them properly
    • Understand, at a deep level, the functioning of the current fashion sector as a whole
    • Develop artistic-conceptual skills around the creation of the fashion image
    • Promote personal analysis, in terms of image and fashion communication, to carry out an appropriate self-branding, which can be applied to collaborating brands
    • Acquire knowledge about current communication, branding and marketing strategies, and learn to propose innovative ideas in the near future
    • Master the digital tools necessary for the development of projects and learn to hold professional conversations in the workplace
    • Internalize all aspects related to sustainability in the broadest sense of the concept and its application

    Programme Leader

    Iván Denia

    Brand & Communications consultant with over 15 years of experience in the industry, having developed most of his career in London.

    Denia has worked extensively in both London and Paris Fashion Weeks, being involved in the strategic planning, production and communication of dozens of events, catwalk shows and presentations. He was the head of Blow PR’s Emerging Talent division, managing designers such us Iris van Herpen or Charlie Le Mindu. Denia worked on the re-launch of the ON/OFF platform in Paris, curating and project managing the seasonal event in which designers such as Zandra Rhodes and Bernhard Willhelm featured. Denia has also managed partnerships with companies such as Land Rover, L’Oréal and Rankin/Hunger Magazine; he has lectured in London-based universities such as Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design, and Middlesex University London.

    Denia studied Advertising and Public Relations at Complutense University in Madrid, including an exchange year in Brussels at L’IHECS. Whilst in London Denia studied a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice and a MA in Photography. Denia’s practice is focused on visual communication and branding, contemporary issues on communication, entrepreneurship and the creative industries.

    Methodology of the Master’s Degree School

    By completing an IED Madrid master's degree programme, you will access cross-cutting training that complements your knowledge and strengthens your skills, preparing you to be a unique profile in the job market. 

    Online preparatory course: optional

    As a student of this master's degree, you will be able to participate in a preparatory course on basic tools for understanding the functioning of design and the skills, from a technical and personal development point of view, inherent to it:

    • Presentation and portfolio
    • Methodology
    • Social Innovation
    • Photoshop *you will be able to take a level test at the start of the course
    • Indesign *you will be able to take a level test at the start of the course
     

    Elective subjects: IED credits

    In addition to the core subjects of the master’s degree programme, you may choose between 2 and 5 optional branches that make up the DNA of IED students. These training branches cover the tools that will make the difference in completing your professional profile.

    CoLAB: IED credits

    To enhance the cross-cutting nature of the programmes, we have a collaborative project in which students from different programmes come together to develop one single project. With the guidance of leading professionals in the sector as tutors, the working groups will approach new disciplines and techniques. You will meet profiles from other programmes, you will interact with them as in companies’ multidisciplinary work groups, enjoying a unique experience that will enrich the way you approach a project.
    In addition, this collaborative project will feature two weeks of conferences, workshops and group presentations: WikIED.
