    Postgraduate Course in Product and Light

    A light object can be used as a way of expressing the personal identity of the user
    and of the space. It creates a diversity of atmospheres and is a generator of
    products that tell a story and trigger emotions.
    With the Postgraduate Course in Product and Light, you will gain knowledge about
    the creation of a luminaire (colloquially referred to as a light fixture) from the
    concept up to its final execution in order to promote its sale. A programme that is
    focused on being hands-on, covering conceptual research and development of
    proposals using the learning-by-doing method.

    Goals

    • To train professionals in aspects covering the conceptual part, the process and the performance of their work in the field of lighting product design
    • To gain extensive knowledge of the new trends in design thinking and their scope
    • To learn about the tools necessary for developing light-related proposals
    • To conceptualise the object and the environment by taking the relationships between various categories and generating new solutions and proposing uses and combinations
    • To provide students with a multidisciplinary profile with the ability to adapt to the work environment in various areas specialising in light and the object

    Stuart Williams

    He studied product and furniture design at the University of Tasmania. He exhibited at the Milan furniture fair in 2006 and subsequently in several group and individual exhibitions (Perth WA 2007).

    Since then, his work has been exhibited and distributed locally, nationally and internationally. Some recent commissions include The Australia Pavilion in Venice, Parliament House in Australia, Qantas Headquarters in Sydney, Westpac Bank in Hobart and numerous private commissions.

    Stuart combines technology with tradition and craftsmanship with an emphasis on sustainability and timelessness.


    Marre Moerel

    She studied fashion design in Rotterdam, sculpture at the Exeter School of Art and furniture design at the Royal College of Art in London. In 1993, she moved to New York City, where she worked teaching classes at the Parsons School of Design and as a freelance designer for brands such as Cappellini, Celda, Kenzo and Offect.

    In 2002, she moved to Madrid, after the attacks of 11 September 2001, where she set up her own studio-shop where she designs furniture, lighting, tableware and accessories, of which she has several collections.  She participated in the Artesanía española de vanguardia programmes promoted by the Madrid City Council, presenting her Food on the Table collection.  In 2015, she won an award as influencer of the year from the Interiores magazine.
